Thor and Steve ended up bonding not only over their mutual confusion about technology, but also over their shared memories of seeing a loved one fall to their (assumed) death. On missions where the Avengers are close to long drops, the two always keep a close eye on their teammates and make a collective effort to shift the battle away from precipices.
