In the 3rd century, the swastika was used to represent Thor’s hammer and lightening. It would seem that since then Thor missed out on WWII in the thousand years it had been since he’d last seen the mortal realm. A trip to the museum one day turned into a giant explanation from everyone as to why Steve got so angry at Thor for making a praising comment about a flag in the section on WWII history. Thor, much like everyone else, could never bring himself to see the symbol the same way again.
