When Shanta turns 16, she gets a part time job scooping ice cream. She likes earning her own money and knowing that on any day she works, she’ll likely see a member of her extended family. (Uncle Clint has a weakness for Rocky Road.)
The Avengers assume she’s going to spend her first paycheck treating herself.
She surprises everyone by giving her dad a handful of bills. “This is what Tasha paid me for getting you out of the city.”
Bruce hugs Shanta tight and tells her to keep the money. She was (and still is) worth far more than that.
